[Tutorial]: How to fix Microsoft Basic Display Adapter errors.

So when you at first update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7, you might find your resolution all cranked up and looking awful. So you decide to right click the desktop and select 'Screen Resolution' and get the shock of your life.
Even though your native display supports 1366 x 768, it says, 1024 x 768 (Recommended).
You research on the net and try all the solutions and fail. Then you stumble upon this and think, "Ahh how is a blog going to help me?"
Well now that you're here, and have no trust in me, :P, let's begin.
So first, at the Screen Resolution window, select Advanced Settings.
If you see Intel HD Graphics or your own Graphics card, then you just update to the latest drivers.
BUT, if you see the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, you're in trouble.
Click on Properties. Go to the Driver Tab and select Update Driver. Select 'Browse my computer'.
Select 'Let me choose from a list'. Then you will see Intel HD Graphics Familiy. DON'T SELECT THAT.
If you do that, then your screen will stutter and you'll be taken to the 'Lock Screen'. If you try to log in again, it will again come back to the lock screen. If this is your issue, then go to the power button on the bottom right hand side and hold shift and click Restart. That should take you to the Advanced boot settings. Click on Troubleshoot and Advanced Settings. Then click on Startup settings and Restart. When it starts restarting, click on Safe Mode with Networking. Now go to the graphic's card site. For eg, Intel or nVidia.
Now download the driver which supports Windows 8.1.
Actually, if you have a 2nd or 3rd Gen Graphics Card, then your card doesn't have the necessary drivers for that card. After you download 'em, go to Device Manager by right-clicking Start.
Select Display Adapter and go to Driver Tab and roll back changes. Then reboot. Now install that driver which you downloaded.
And now, breathe a sigh of relief.

So that's that. Hope I helped. :)
